Let’s get real, most of us either crave (or are lucky enough to have) a romantic relationship that is deeply and emotionally satisfying. What we don’t realize is how the selection and placement of our furniture, objects, and decor can either support or sabotage our love lives! But don’t worry, I’ve got the Feng Shui love-tips you need right here!
Feng Shui is one of my favorite tools for activating the things I want to manifest in my life, grow, and shine a light on. I didn’t realize just how powerful it could be until I began making these changes to my own home.
I’m all about l’amour, so I invite you to try the following Feng Shui Love Zone rules and fixes to help open your love life up to receiving, attracting and maintaining a healthy, equal, and committed partnership. Let’s go!

WHY IT’S IMPORTANT TO FIX THIS PART OF YOUR HOME
When the relationship zone is not properly set up and balanced, finding and keeping a romantic partner could suffer or be non-existent. There could be a streak of non-committal issues, bickering, attracting the wrong person, lust without love, friend-zoning, or loneliness. By applying Feng Shui, we can increase our romantic wellness and harmony, as well as reduce or eliminate barriers to its success. While fixing the Feng Shui love zone won’t prevent all of life’s heartbreaks, it can help give you the best possible chance of having a successful relationship.
FINDING YOUR LOVE/RELATIONSHIP ZONE
When most of us think of love and romance in our homes, we naturally picture the bedroom. However, chances are your relationship zone may not actually be in the bedroom! For information on how to use the BTB Bagua, check out my new year’s/new beginnings Feng Shui post here.
Essentially, align the above BTB Bagua below with your home map, placing the career side along the same wall where your front door is located. Where does the relationship zone fall in your space?
ELEMENTS FOR LOVE ZONE
The primary element for this zone is EARTH, and the supporting element is FIRE.
The Earth element brings balance and grounding. It allows the development of deep roots, which is what you likely want to establish in a relationship! The earth element also allows healthy energies (Qi or “chi”) to circulate.
How is the element of fire supporting the earth element? Well, imagine burning a log. When it’s done burning, the ashes become earth nourishment. Thus, fire can both strengthen and activate this zone.
Now adding “fire” might sound bad if you’re new to Feng Shui concepts! Believe me, it won’t necessarily cause your romantic partnership to go up in flames! However, too much fire can attract lust via steamy short-term hookups. Additionally, if there is an imbalance or excess of the fire element, it can over-stimulate this area so as to attract/influence lust, anger, fighting, and even violence.
In this way, too much fire element could attract a volatile person or “bad boy.” Thus, fire can be problematic when in excess and can burn. To avoid trouble, I recommend balancing this element carefully.
What you want to do is mostly focus on the earth elements; its colors, shapes, and items described below. Then use fire colors, shapes and items sparingly and only as an accent. The only exception is a soft pink; but beware, hot pink = fire.
COLORS FOR LOVE ZONE
First, let’s focus on earth colors since they would (ideally) be the main colors for the walls, floors/carpets/rugs, furniture, and decorative items in that area.
EARTH COLORS are just that, colors of mud, clay, or sand. Basically, everything from a light cream to a rich taupe. Avoid brown since that is a “wood” element color. In addition, pale pinks, pale yellows, and terra-cotta are also “earth” tones in Feng Shui. The ideal color for this area is pink, as that represents love.
For your accents, FIRE ELEMENT colors include red, orange, bright yellow, and bright intense pinks. Wine or burgundy colors could also work but will have a more muted effect (less fiery).
SHAPES FOR LOVE ZONE
The earth element shape is square. Thus, placing square-shaped items, like a square picture frame (most are rectangular), coffee table, cabinet, square-topped side table, etc., will further enhance the earth element in this zone.
The fire element shape is the triangle. This also applies to stars or items that have multiple triangle shapes in their design. It also applies to pointed or flame-shaped objects (like the snake plant).
EARTH ELEMENT ITEMS
Items you can add in abundance that reflect the earth element include anything with the appropriate colors, shape or materials. Here are a few examples:
- Square cushions in earth tones
- Square or earth-colored textiles (blankets, throws, tapestries)
- Artwork or photographs in earth colors or depicting the earth element (ie., a picture of a quartz druzy, an impressionist painting with pink tones, etc.). Be careful not to choose images that look barren, sad or lonely, like a dessert, or your love life will be or become barren!
- Items made from natural materials: wicker baskets, sisal rugs, clay or ceramic figures, terra-cotta pots or figures, African woven-baskets, quartz crystals, Himalayan salt lamps, etc.
Items you can add sparingly that reflect the fire element include:
- Pops of the fire element colors (intense pink, red, orange, intense yellow).
- Remember, standard or paler pinks can pass for an earth color, so you can use more of it, but the brighter the pink, the more “fire” it represents.
- Candles in the appropriate colors.
- Lamps, string lights, bulbs, lanterns, and candles.
- Flowers, fresh or “silk” flowers. (Never-ever use dried flowers, which symbolize death in Feng Shui.)
- Stars or pointed items.
- Trees that are pointed or have leaves shaped like flames. (My romance area happens to be in the living room and my Christmas tree activates this zone every December!)
- If you have a fireplace, set it up for a fire with logs (even if you never light it, it’s symbolic).
- Plants with flame-shaped leaves or fire-color flowers. Make sure any plants placed here are healthy. Get rid of sickly plants immediately.
- Feathers also represent the fire element (but generally, birds pay a high price for them! Consider another option or try to get them second-hand).
ROMANTIC SYMBOLS
The placement of items that symbolize a happy, harmonious, and romantic relationship is essential.
Photos. This is the easiest one. Simple place images of you as a couple where you look very happy or romantic.
AVOID: This should be obvious, but avoid placing pictures that bring back bad memories or represent being alone (like individual pictures of either of you). Also resist placing pictures of other people you know in this zone, like friends, parents or children. That would represent others coming between the couple or disrupting your love life! (There are other Feng Shui areas in the home for family/friends and children.)
Other romantic symbols include flowers, candles, perfume, scented items, incense, loving figurines, and matching or complementary pairs of objects.
More traditional Feng Shui love symbols include things like mandarin ducks because they mate for life. Feel free to instead place your own meaningful symbols. Use symbols that make you sense to you, rather than feeling like you must use the traditional ones. For example, a ceramic figurine of a couple in love, your wedding cake topper, his and hers items, etc., might hold more sentimental meaning for you than ducks! 🙂
What if you’re not in a couple yet? A great hack is to place a painting or image here of a couple that evokes the feeling you want. The most famous example would be Gustav Klimt’s painting, “The Kiss,” which depicts a romantic, doting couple embracing in bed. The painting has some intense yellows, which work well in this zone to stimulate the fire-element. This is also an ideal spot to place a vision board for the love you envision!
HARMONY in TWOs
Speaking of symbols, you want to have at least one pair of matching or complementary items in this area. Similar pairs represent harmony and equality in the relationship, which I think we can all get behind! Avoid mismatched items, which represent not seeing eye-to-eye.
Examples: a pair of candles or hearts, a romantic figurine of a couple, two rose quartz crystals, a pair of lamps, etc.
YOUR BEDROOM
The colors, elements, shapes, etc., in your bedroom, will depend on which zone your bedroom falls on within the Bagua map. Don’t panic if the colors and elements are different from the romance zone.
If your Feng Shui love/romance zone does not overlap your bedroom area, don’t worry, that’s common! What to do: (1) address the love zone in your home first wherever that is, (2) then in your bedroom, focus on creating harmonious pairs and having your bed in the optimal position.
In the bedroom, make sure you have matching pairs galore. If you have 3 pillows on the bed, consider having 2 or 4 instead. Even numbers are better as they represent pairs. Uneven numbers here represent someone, even kids, breaking up your romantic overtures. Goodbye third pillow! 😉
If you have mismatched nightstands or are missing one, make sure to fix that. A typical setup might be 2 huge pillows, 2 nightstands, 2 lamps, and 2 candles.
If you have art displayed, make sure it represents love, harmony, or happiness. AVOID:
- Images of someone alone, sad or angry.
- Dried flowers.
- Pictures of anyone other than the main couple in the bedroom.
Finally, bed placement is so important to your romance prospects, even if this is not in your romance/love zone. Make sure to place your bed in the power position! Read about how to do this here:

With these fixes, as much as possible, try to work with what you already have. By no means do you have to implement all the above fixes. Instead, take a look around you and make choices about how to rearrange things (or refinish/upcycle them). Then decide which symbolic items you might like to add to bring about the desired impact (without cluttering-up your space).
I hope you enjoyed my Feng Shui Love Zone suggestions for attracting the romantic relationship you deserve! Please let me know if you have any questions about this zone!

Long time supporter, and thought I’d drop a comment.
Your wordpress site is very sleek – hope you don’t mind
me asking what theme you’re using? (and don’t mind if I steal it?
:P)
I just launched my site –also built in wordpress like yours– but the theme slows
(!) the site down quite a bit.
In case you have a minute, you can find it
by searching for “royal cbd” on Google (would appreciate any feedback) – it’s still
in the works.
Keep up the good work– and hope you all take care of yourself during the
coronavirus scare!
Hi Justin! Thank you so much!! I truly appreciate your kind words! Yes, no problem, my theme is Gucherry pro: everestthemes.com/themes/gucherry-blog-pro/#pricing – I hope you stay safe and healthy too! Take care and thanks for your support! Much love 🙂
